Why the Return to Tribalism is Key to Navigating the Coming Changes
If you read my last blog post, you’ll know I shared the story of The Beeja Project—an eco-community I built in India that taught me everything about land, power, and people. If you missed it, you can catch up on the full story [here on my blog].
In the aftermath of The Beeja Project, I realized something profound:
The blueprint for surviving what’s to come lies in an ancient future.
Tribalism isn’t a relic of history—it’s a living, breathing model for resilience in uncertain times.
We are living in an era of rapid change.
The systems we once relied on—political, social, religious, and economic—are all wobbling.
And in this uncertainty, our greatest assets are our biology (what lives within us) and each other.
Tribalism isn’t a buzzword or a trend.
It is a survival technology—a blueprint encoded in our DNA.
Before institutions, we had circles.
Before experts, we had elders.
Before algorithms, we had intuition, rhythm, and each other.
Tribal cultures thrived not by chance, but through a deep understanding of right relation, community, shared responsibility, and natural leadership.
When I built intentional communities, we experienced a taste of this:
Embedded belonging with the local villagers
Shared abundance through our micro-economy
Natural leadership guided by wisdom, not titles
This is what we’re being called back to now—not in nostalgia, but out of necessity.
Why the Return to Tribalism?
Because when systems collapse or become unreliable, what remains is:
Each other.
Who we are.
How we relate.
And what we’re building together.
Tribalism teaches us:
- Everyone has a role
- Every voice matters
- The survival of the group depends on the health of the whole
This is the original operating system.
And the invitation now is to reclaim it—consciously.
A Reflection Moment:
Who is in your “inner circle” right now—truly?
Who holds space for your evolution?
Who would you walk to the edge of the unknown with?
If the answer isn’t clear, don’t worry.
This is the beginning of a powerful inquiry.
I invite you to speak it into the field—reply to this email and tell me what you’re noticing, or join the conversation on social @KnowTheSelf. Your voice matters more than you know.
In my next message, I’ll share how to find and cultivate your soul-aligned community—because now more than ever, your people are the portal.
Let’s walk this remembering together.
In resonance,
